Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging season, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his first title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface from spring of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

He rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
